How do we become who we are?

The systems around you are designed to hold your attention, predict your reactions and influence what you trust. staihuman helps you recognise what is being activated in you — before it becomes a click, a belief or a decision you did not consciously choose.
A calm, practical 8-week programme. No digital detox. No anti-AI agenda. Founding cohorts are free.
Can’t stop scrolling?That isn’t entirely your fault.
Manipulation rarely feels like manipulation — it feels like urgency, certainty, belonging or the fear of missing out. That’s because we are each shaped by what once brought safety, approval and control, and those patterns don’t disappear online: they become the routes algorithms, feeds, scams and AI-generated authority use to reach you. staihuman helps you see those routes without blame — and build more choice around them.
Your attention is interrupted, rewarded and redirected all day. Over time, that can leave you mentally overloaded, emotionally reactive and less able to focus on what really matters.
Digital systems learn which stories, faces and emotions keep you engaged. They do not know you or care about you. They just need to know what will keep you engaged.
Yes, you can — with a better grasp of the dynamics at play on you. Once you understand why you get hooked so quickly, you create enough space to decide what happens next.
It learns which version of persuasion works on you.
“If we invest too much in developing AI and too little in developing human consciousness, very sophisticated AI might only serve to empower the natural stupidity of humans.”
Yuval Noah Harari
What helped you gain attention, avoid rejection, feel in control or stay connected may still shape what you notice and trust. Understanding that history makes your present-day reactions less mysterious — and less available for others to exploit.
You can’t change a pattern you can’t even see.It finds what holds your gaze, raises your anxiety, confirms your identity or promises relief — and serves you more of it more of the time. It can feel highly personal but the system doesn’t know you. It only knows what works on you.
The system learns your habits. Awareness interrupts.
Everyone has turned up.
but no-one is present.
Four private modules help you understand the psychological patterns that shaped you. Four live learning sessions help you practise responding to triggers differently. The aim is not to make you suspicious of everything. It is to make your attention, judgement and choices more consciously your own, online and off.
Free for the founding cohorts Small cohorts create enough safety for honest learning without requiring personal disclosure. Application takes about 60 seconds. No payment details.Short videos and reflective exercises help you recognise your own patterns without having to expose them to a group.
Facilitated sessions turn insight into language, boundaries and responses you can use in real situations.
See where stimulation, belonging, approval, fear and interpretation are most likely to narrow your choices.
Use the framework online, at work, in relationships and whenever a strong feeling begins making the decision for you.
The lower half of the model helps you recognise the patterns formed through stimulation, training, attachment and interpretation.
The upper half builds structure, transition, agency and imagination — the capacities that help you stay open to technology without surrendering your judgement to it.
Why do some alerts, images and stories feel impossible to ignore? Trace the hungers and sensitivities that make particular forms of stimulation especially powerful for you.
Private · OnlineWhat helps you feel steady when information is fast, conflicting or emotionally charged? Build practical containment so urgency does not automatically become action.
Facilitated group · LiveWhose approval, rules or expectations still live inside your decisions? Recognise the conditioning that can make compliance, perfection or certainty feel safer than independent judgement.
Private · OnlineWhich old rules are no longer fit for the world you now inhabit? Learn how to loosen inherited responses without losing your sense of self.
Facilitated group · LiveWhy can belonging make us defend people, platforms and beliefs against the evidence? Understand how connection and fear become linked — and how to stay connected without surrendering discernment.
Private · OnlineWhere do you still have choice — even when a system is designed to make the next step feel automatic? Practise moving from reaction or over-control into deliberate action.
Facilitated group · LiveHow quickly does your mind turn fragments into certainty? Learn to separate what happened from the meaning you gave it, creating room for curiosity before conclusion.
Private · OnlineWhat becomes possible when your future is not being chosen by your habits, your fears or somebody else’s prediction of you? Use imagination as a disciplined alternative to inevitability.
Facilitated group · LiveIt's not one theory wearing a new name. staihuman integrates attachment and developmental psychology, relational and transactional analysis, and the study of meaning and motivation — Bowlby, Rogers, Frankl, Maslow and others — into one practical framework, so the forces shaping you become easier to see, question and change.
Humans have been asking the same question for a long time — staihuman is where that enquiry currently stands.
Who are we?
What makes life meaningful?
What shapes behaviour?
How does experience shape us?
How do all the parts interact?

staihuman was developed by Joanna Traynor, a psychotherapist and organisational behaviour consultant, bringing established psychological thinking into one practical framework for how pressure, history and relationship shape judgement — now applied to the digital conditions entering everyday life.
The underlying tools have been used with people making consequential decisions across policing, fire and rescue, healthcare and professional regulation.
Attachment, transactional analysis, psychodynamic practice, transition and neuroscience are connected around one question: what helps humans retain choice?
Live sessions are led by qualified practitioners. You choose what to reflect on privately and what, if anything, to share.

In nearly 21 years of being a Police officer this is one of the best, most relevant training courses of this kind that I have been on. It's changed my home life completely.
Police officer, Devon & Cornwall PoliceI don't think I can overstate how relevant this work has been to me. It has given me language and structure to think about why my experiences, especially in the last year, have felt the way they have.
Legal Executive, Nursing and Midwifery CouncilI had a number of lightbulb moments and spent a lot of time mulling it all over. You can't know what you don't know and this course really brought that home to me.
Red Cross VolunteerA brilliant, thought-provoking programme. Everyone's questions were sensitively handled and I found the whole thing incredibly interesting and more importantly, helpful.

Some people remember the concert. Others remember the scrolling, a phrase, or a feeling — we don't all notice the same things. The digital world learns from those patterns. staihuman helps you learn from them too.
You will not find countdown timers, manufactured scarcity or psychological pressure designed to push you into applying. That would contradict the purpose of staihuman. You have the chance and the choice to participate. Our job is to give you enough clear information to decide consciously.
Build a more conscious relationship with the digital world — using what serves you while recognising, and interrupting, what does not.
