staihuman — Psychological Leadership for the Digital World
For public-service leaders, professionals and technologists

Progress begins with people.

A system can hit every target but fail the humans who use it, need it or have to live with it.

The staihuman programme helps technologists, leaders and public-service professionals understand how digital systems influence human behaviour — and how to design, deploy and govern them with greater awareness and responsibility.

How harm actually happens

Every failure that reaches the public started as a decision that felt reasonable at the time.

Nobody sets out to fail the people they serve. But the gap between good intentions and bad outcomes has a shape — and it's the same shape whether you're running a public service, advising a client, or shipping a product.

1The mechanism, step by step
01 · THE PATTERN
A history, not a flaw

Automatic responses built by experience — recent and not so recent. Not a weakness. How people function under pressure.

02 · THE PRESSURE
Meets a deadline

A target, a hierarchy, an unresolved ambiguity activates the pattern before judgement gets a vote.

03 · THE DECISION
Gets made quietly

A concern goes unraised. A safeguard gets postponed. The pattern chose — not the policy.

04 · THE IMPACT
Lands on someone else

A resident's closed door. A client's unverified advice. A user's dark pattern. Rarely seen by the person who made the call.

05 · THE INTERRUPT
Becomes available

Seen while it's happening, not after, it's a genuine choice you didn't have before.

staihuman trains you to see step 3 while it's still happening, choose differently, and tolerate the discomfort of doing it anyway.

If we invest too much in developing AI and too little in developing human consciousness, very sophisticated AI might only serve to empower the natural stupidity of humans.

Across industries, the most significant barriers to sustained impact are rooted in roles, incentives, decision rights and culture — rather than algorithms or infrastructure.

AI will have an impact on your world

Give change a chance — put people first.

The technology is new. The psychology isn't.

Public Services

If workflows change, so do people.

The human cost of adapting to AI in the workplace and in the community needs to be acknowledged, accounted for and managed. Otherwise targets will be met and people let down.

Professional Services

Faster, better, more.

The numbers may stack up but so will the losses if tech trumps talking, listening, and truly understanding what emotional impact feels like.

Technologists

Shipped early, cared too late.

The race to the bottom starts here, and with it a belief it can't be stopped. But it can. To lead real change — one where humans matter most — we have to understand why standing at the edge of a death spiral doesn't feel as dangerous as it is.

Four self-study modules will help you understand the psychological forces that shape you. Four live workshop sessions help you practise new ways to analyse, appraise and identify the right course of action, intelligently but with emotional insight guiding the way. The aim is not to make you suspicious of everything. It is to make your attention, judgement and choices more consciously your own, both online and off.

Free for the founding cohorts Small cohorts create enough safety for honest learning without requiring personal disclosure. Application takes about 60 seconds. No payment details.
✓
Private insight, at your own pace

Red modules are studied privately online. They include videos, assessments and exercises — helping you recognise your own patterns without having to expose them to a group.

✓
Live practice, without performance

Green sessions turn science and insight into language, boundaries and powerful tactics you can use immediately on return to the workplace. Delivered in person for founding cohorts, with remote and hybrid cohorts available for organisations that need them.

✓
Neuroscience, psycho-dynamic analysis and you

View your world, your history and your opportunities for change through a new lens, informed by neuroscience and used across public-service and regulated organisations in the UK.

✓
Assessments to map your past to your present

Paired modules (1 x red and 1 x green) provide a self-assessment exercise to map experiences from your past — recent and not so recent — to your ways of working now.

✓
Public service. Professional practice. Technology.

staihuman will help you at work in the sector you serve, in the decisions you're accountable for, and whenever pressure threatens to get in the way of good judgement.

The four forces that built you are in red. The four tools for empowerment are green. Explore the eight parts
The STAIHUMAN framework

Understand what shapes you. Strengthen what serves you.

The programme divides into paired modules, one red paired with one green. The lower red modules will help you explore the past, to identify patterns formed through four key brain processes - stimulation, training, attachment and interpretation.

The upper green modules will provide you with tools to identify the need for structure and how to build it, manage change and transition, use agency appropriately and imagination wisely. These are the capacities you'll need to help you stay open to technology without surrendering your judgement to it.

Each module answers a question most training programmes skip.

stimulationWeek 1

Why do some alerts, images and stories feel impossible to ignore? Trace the hungers and sensitivities that make particular forms of stimulation especially powerful for you.

It's not one theory wearing a new name. staihuman integrates attachment and developmental psychology, relational and transactional analysis, and the study of meaning and motivation — Bowlby, Rogers, Frankl, Maslow and others — into one practical framework, so the forces shaping you become easier to see, question and change.

Why trust the work?

Twenty years decoding how people think, feel and decide.

staihuman was built by senseia, one of the UK's leading culture change consultancies. senseia believes psychological awareness and resilience are as important to organisational and system culture as any other utility required to deliver products and services to the public. staihuman distils decades of organisational psychology into a single practical framework, so leaders can spot when instinct and self-interest get dressed up as judgement — especially when the pressure is on.

Accredited Practitioners

Experienced, qualified and accredited psychologists and coaches from the world of TV, media, health, law, technology and education — senseia's practitioner network.

Experience

senseia has delivered hundreds of hours of training to police, fire and health organisations across the UK — organisations with no time to waste.

Impact

senseia's programmes are considered best practice by HMICFRS, the government inspectorate, and are listed as a case study of best practice in the National College of Policing practice bank.

The underlying work has been trusted in organisations where judgement, wellbeing and responsibility matter.

What people have said after being given the psychological tools that underpin staihuman.

In nearly 21 years of being a Police officer this is one of the best, most relevant training courses of this kind that I have been on. It's changed my home life completely.

Police officer, Devon & Cornwall Police

I don't think I can overstate how relevant this work has been to me. It has given me language and structure to think about why my experiences, especially in the last year, have felt the way they have.

Legal Executive, Nursing and Midwifery Council

I had a number of lightbulb moments and spent a lot of time mulling it all over. You can't know what you don't know and this course really brought that home to me.

Red Cross Volunteer

A brilliant, thought-provoking programme. Everyone's questions were sensitively handled and I found the whole thing incredibly interesting and more importantly, helpful.

No tricks. No pressure.

Your decision should remain yours.

Countdown timers

Pressure tactics

You will not find countdown timers, manufactured scarcity or psychological pressure designed to push you into applying. That would contradict the purpose of staihuman. You have the chance and the choice to participate. Our job is to give you enough clear information to decide consciously.

What you may need to know

Need more clarity?

Is this therapy?+
No. staihuman is a learning programme. It uses psychologically informed ideas, but it is not therapy, diagnosis or clinical treatment. You decide how much personal material to explore.
Do I have to share personal history in the group?+
No. The private modules are where personal reflection happens. The live sessions are for learning and practice. You can participate without exposing material you want to keep private.
Is this anti-AI?+
No. The point is not to reject technology. The point is to stop being unconsciously shaped by it. You can use digital tools without letting them quietly train your attention, judgement and identity.
How much time does it take?+
Eight weeks, one private module and one live session each week. It's designed to be manageable, not overwhelming.
Why is it free?+
Because these are founding cohorts. You get the full programme free of charge. In exchange, you complete short evaluations so the course can be sharpened around what actually works. There's no obligation to continue, or to pay anything, once the programme moves to a paid model.
What happens after I apply?+
You'll get an email confirming your place and your cohort's start date. No payment, no calls, nothing else to do until then.
Can I opt out without being charged or chased?+
Yes. Free means free — nothing to cancel, nothing owed. You can step away at any point. We'll only ever email you about your cohort and the programme itself, never a sales sequence, and one click unsubscribes you from everything.
Do you have to sign up as a team, or can individuals join on their own?+
Most organisations book staihuman as a cohort for their team, but individuals can also apply for a place on their own. Team cohorts get a shared start date and internal facilitation notes; individual applicants join the next available founding cohort.
Can we pay as we go, one paired module at a time?+
During the founding cohorts the full 8-week programme is free. Once we move to paid cohorts, you'll be able to pay per paired module rather than the whole programme upfront — get in touch and we'll talk you through it.
Can staihuman be delivered as in-house or private training for one organisation?+
Yes. Alongside the open founding cohorts, we can run a private cohort exclusively for your organisation, timed and facilitated around your team's schedule.
How many people from our organisation can join a cohort?+
Founding cohorts are kept small by design, to protect the psychological safety that makes the work honest. If you want to bring a larger group, we can discuss a dedicated private cohort for your organisation.
Is staihuman suitable for public sector, NHS or emergency services teams?+
Yes. The psychological tools behind staihuman have already been used with people making consequential decisions across policing, fire and rescue, healthcare and professional regulation.
